A light breeze blew itself across the mirrored surface of star shone lake, warping the stars and making them dance and sparkle. The breeze whispered itself along and over the pelt of a wolf lying beside the waters edge. It lifted her soft brown fur and brought wonderful scents of the night to her nostrils. These were the days she loved the most. Days when she had no where to be, nothing to do, and could spend it staring across the lake, lost in thought, until she fell asleep.
Her paws began to itch from lying in one spot for too long and she lifted herself up. Shaking once she stretched, cat-like and yawned, exposing her sharp, white teeth. Blinking the sleep from her eyes she looked around. She was alone, no strange smells reached her nose and she felt safe. In this quickly turning world, with all the rules and regulations, here by the lake was where she always could feel herself. She didn't know if she should be here or shouldn't, but she hadn't run into any other wolf since she started making trips here, so she felt it was alright.
She smiled softly at nothing in general, then realized her energy was back after her nap and she felt like running. Lifting her head high, she called out to the world itself and then set off running, toward the forest she could see on the other side of the lake. As usual she couldn't make it all the way there without slowing to a walk. Her endurance wasn't very good yet, but these runs were increasing it and she realized she had run almost halfway around before getting tired. Much better than usual, which was only a quarter of the lake.
She looked around as she walked. Happy and lighthearted she continued her walk to the forest. Normally she would start running again after awhile, but she wanted to hunt today and would need the energy.
